Paparazzi…

“I’m your biggest fans, I’ll follow you until you love me, papa… paparazzi” penggalan lagu Paparazzi yang sedang kudengarkan saat ini. Lagu tahun 2009 dimana dinyanyikan oleh the Mother Monster Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is the best.

Berbicara tentang paparazzi sendiri.

Cangkrukan 2 – “The Hang Out 2″

“Ealah War, statusmu modus ngono to?”

Modus opo to Sur?” kata Warni menarik HPnya.

“Kata-katamu ku loh alay, ‘I lophe yuu somwan, emuch emuch emuch, krasa gag sich’” kata Surti mengolok.

“Secara umurku kan yo masih enom to Sur, la iku fotomu Sur, halah halah,” kilah Warni lalu membalas mengolok.

La lapo? Imut-imut gini,” kata Surti lalu menyembunyikan HPnya di dompet.

“Hahahahaha, kisinan, Bu kopinya sudah belum?” kata Warni tertawa lebar.

“Sudah, iki ndang dibawa pulang,” kata Bu Sul lalu kedua gadis itu meninggalkan warung sambil terus berceloteh.

Arek-arek iku mainan opo toh Thi?” tanya Pak Brengos.

Emboh, kok kaya’e seru, pake status-statusan segala,” jawab Pak Minthi.

Opo?? pisbuk? Opo iku?” tanya Pak Brengos menggaruk kepalanya.

“Ooooo Pesbug a? Iyo iyowah Bu Sul yo punya tah?” kata Pak Minthi.

” Facebook pak, walah ket kemaren yo salah-salah terus, belajar bahasa Inggris kono loh.Yo punya tah pak, lumayan buat promosi warung,” kat Bu Sul lagi.

Eh iku opo sih?” tanya Pak Brengos.

“Facebook iku kayak situs pertemanan ngono,” jawab Pak Minthi

“Pertemanan opo?” tanya Pak Brengos lagi.

Nek sama temen tukar an nomer HP kan ya iso tah Thi,” kata pak Brengos.

Yo ga podo ta Ngos, iki gak cuma tukar-tukaran nomer HP, jadi bisa lihat siapa ae temennya, kegiatannya sekarang ini, terus kita ya bisa ngobrol langsung sama orangnya andaikan sama-sama onlen. Punya anakku iku malah buat jadi reunian sama temen-temen sekolahe. Pernah cekikikan dhewe terus katanya lagi ngobrol sama temen dulu pas sekolah,” kata Pak Minthi panjang lebar.

“Wah asyik yo,” kata Pak Brengos mengelus kumisnya lagi.

“Makanya, buat anak jaman sekarang Facebook iku sudah jadi salah siji kebutuhan hidup.Wong yang tua-tua aja udah mulai punya,” kata Pak Minthi melirik Bu Sul yang ternyata sedang asyik main HP.

“Terus ono kegunaan lainnya ora?” Tanya Pak Brengos lagi.

Akeh tah Ngos, tapi bisa positif lan iso negatif. Contohe, bisa nyari kenalana baru, pacar, cari info lowongan kerja, kalo yang pinter bisa jadi sarana bisnis, kayak jualan lewat internet, trus iku si Bu Sul, promosi warung lewat Facebook juga. Tapi Facebook iku bisa disalahgunakan. Contohe yo, wes kasarane, pemicu pertengkaran dalam rumah tangga, kemungkinan terjadie pemerkosaan, terus pembunuhan karena dendam, iri hati, bahkan yo Ngos, ono yang nggawe ajang jual diri disini,” kata Pak Minthi panjang lebar dalam dua tarikan nafas.

Wuik kok sangar men toh yo, edan yang melakukan hal ngono iku,” imbuh Pak Brengos.

La iyo Ngos, pinter-pintere penggunae nek wes ngono iku,” sahut Pak Minthi.

“Terus nek kate mainan fisbuk iku neng endi?” tanya pak Brengos.

“Ya pake komputer to, nek saiki jaman wes canggih, Internet iso diakses lewat HP, jadinek mau buka Facebook iso kapanpun kita pingin,” kata Pak Minthi menyeruput kopinya.

Owalah, enak yo.

Yo wes aku ta nyuruh anakku nggawekno iku Facebook,” kata Pak Brengos sambil meringis.

Halah gayamu Ngos, gawe opo terusan?” Pak Minthi kembali terkikik.

“Pingin gaul tahmosok kalah karo anak muda?” Kata Pak Brengos ikut terkikik.

Eling umur Ngos, eling. Anak wes dewasa ngono, kita iki cukup tahu ae wes, ra usahmelu-melu ngono ikuwes tuwek, hahahahahaha,” kata Pak Minthi lalu tertawa dan (lagi) perutnya naik turun.

“Hahahahaha, iyo iyo. Eh ngomong-ngomong koe kok tahu yang beginian ini toh Thi? Tumben,” kata Pak Brengos mengolok.

“Baca koran tah Ngos, ojo nonton sinetron ae, hahahahaha,” sahut Pak Minthi balas mengolok yang disambut lirikan Pak Brengos.

“Eh Bapak-Bapak, iki pertandingane wes mulai,” panggil Bu Sul.

Cangkrukan – “The Hang Out”

Setelah kopi favorit mereka pesan, mereka pun memulai percakapan.

Piye anakmu Thi? Wes kerja belum?” tanya Pak Brengos.

Durung Ngos, disuruh kerja kantoran yo ora gelem,” jawab Pak Minthi sambil menyeruput kopi Lanangnya.

“Anakku yo ngono e, malah senang kerja di jalanan, padahal yo sarjana,” kata pak Brengos sambil menggeleng.

Halah yo wes ben ae Ngos, anak sekarang punya cara pikir dhewe.” tambah Pak Minthi.

“Sur!!! Coba liat itu, sinetronnya wes mulai,” pekik Warni.

“Iya War, ya ampun ganteng banget tuh artis, jadi pacarnya enak kali ya.” kata Surti sambil memandang terpesona.

Ngunu o ae Sur, kalo jadi pacar kamu ya modus terus tiap hari,” kata Warni sambil tertawa.

“Ya iyalah War, kesempatan kok. Apalagi kalo dilamar,” kata Surti semakin terpesona.

“Ah GeJe kamu Sur, udah ayo pulang aja, langsung nonton,” kata Warni.

Owalah yo, begitu aja ya heboh, cuma sinetron aja kok,” kata Pak Brengos.

“Aku yo heran, bojoku juga seneng banget, padahal ya isinya begitu itu,” tambah Pak Minthi.

“Nggak tau iki kualitas acara tivi kita ini belakangan, kalo nggak sinetron ya acara opo iku jenenge? Reliti Soo?” kata Pak Brengos.

Halah, ketauan bloon e kamu itu Ngos, Realiti Su,” kata Pak Minthi.

“He pak, itu jenenge Reality Show, podho salahe ngono,” komentar Bu Sul dari balik meja yang disambut gelak tawa kedua bapak ini.

Yo iku wes, kalo acara itu kok ya buka-buka aibnya orang,” kata Pak Brengos.

“Ujung-ujungnya apa? Ya tukaran maneh, opo yo ora malu, diliat semua orang,” tambah Pak Minthi.

“Justru acara kayak gitu yang lagi booming pak,” celetuk Bu Sul.

“Apalagi yang namanya sinetron. Isinya ya cuman ngono iku, kalo nggak rebutan harta, yang rebutan lanangan, isi kok nggak mendidik,” imbuh Pak Brengos lagi.

“Apalagi kalo wes masalah status. Mana wong sugih, mana wong kere digedhe-gedhe’no,” kata Pak Minthi.

“Apa bener yo orang Indonesia pikirannya koyok ngono? Diluar negeri aja negara kita ini dikenal ramah, mosok ke sesamanya koyok ngono?” kata Pak Brengos sambil menyeruput kopi Luwaknya.

Ngajari kok ya ngono, mana itu lagi, wes wayahe habis yo masih mekso, kalo nggak nambah orang jahate, yo nambah penderitaaneowalah ora omes aku,” kata Pak Minthi. “Oh iyo, iku maneh. Ada juga sinetron yang ceritane anak kecil-kecil, kelas SMP ngono lahtapi wes iso pacaran koyok wong tuwekNek e cinta yo ora ngono toh, biasa ae. Orasampek nyelakain orang.”

“Iyo Ngos, tapi yoopo maneh? Kita kan cuma sebagian orang yang pikirane ngono, tapingene iki yo kritikan, nek diterimo yo sukur, nek ora yo masalahmu, ya toh?” tambah Pak Minthi.

Yo wes diliat ae kedepane koyok opo Thi, mau tambah bagus opo tambah kacau,” kata Pak Brengos.

Ayo muleh Ngos, ada acara wayangan di rumah Pak RT, nonton ora?” kata Pak Minthi lalu beranjak berdiri.

Yo mesti tah Thi, mumpung lakone lagi bagus,” kata Pak Brengos ikut berdiri.

Malang Masked dance lately becomes more and more extinct. Almost nobody now care about this legacy of traditional art of Indonesia which existed inMalang. In fact, this dances somewhat quite unique and typical, because this dances mixed the culture from all over java (West, Center, and East) but with most influence from Blambangan and Osing.

The Dancer of Masked Dance

Based on history, this dance was created by Airlangga from Kediri Kingdom. Then he spread this dance into Java through Singosari kingdom. The base move from this dance also enriched with uniquely music and dynamic moves from Javanese, Madurese, and Balinese ethnic. This dance estimated appears around 20th century for the first time, and reach it’s Golden Age in around 1970. At that time used as ritual and custom that makes Malang very famous. Nowadays also can be presented as dance drama and tells about the story of Ramayana, Mahabarata and Panji.

The main interest from this dance can be seen from the moves, the elegance of the dancer, as well as the costumes. The most presented story of this dance is Panji Asmorobangun’s story. The reason why they used this story is because this story represent human’s trait. It can be proven from many different expression mask they used during dance like happy, crying, sadden laugh, and many more.

Pictures of Masks

Nowadays in Malang city itself, almost nobody ever played the dance, not only because the effect of modernization, it was also because of the audience is getting lower day by day. It was a shame knowing that Malang is also known as one of tourist destination. Often they ask about the dance as well as the other dance using wooden horse called Kuda Lumping, and look for where the dance was. And they feel sorry too about it, knowing that the dance is part of Malang culture.

But, some hopes can be seen for the future of this culture. Some people already care about the dance, and they do some effort to keep the culture alive.

example of an effort

One person named Mbah Karimun who lived in Padepokan Topeng Glagahdowo Di Kecamatan Tumpang Kabupaten Malang, also Padepokan Asmorobangun and Padepokan Galuh Chandra Kirana di sub district Pakisaji South of Malang, keep the culture alive. He also created many kind of traditional mask, which is carved by his own hand. He have carved mask since 14 years old and consistent to keep carved mask even though his parents ever forbid him to do that.

The price of the mask he created varies from Rp.5000,- up to Rp.250.000,- depend on the size and motives.

Mbah Karimun

Mbah Karimun passed away in 2010, because of sick and the effect from the accident he got a few years ago. He is a hero of the traditional culture, because of his consistency and his loyalty to this custom.

This is like a message to all generation of people who lived, to not forget about the traditional custom and culture, because the culture today is cannot be separated from the past. So supposedly we all must remember and keep it alive and also prevent it from any irresponsible persons to take it away from us as the original owner and claim it for themselves. <DITO>

Malang’s Sunday Market

Hiya all, howdy? I’m back again with another post. Hmmmmm, let’s see…. today I would like to show everyone one spot that quite famous in my city, Malang. It is an annual Sunday morning market, or in Indonesian it was called PASAMI (Pasar Sabtu Minggu) or also can be called Pasar Kaget. It’s been so long since the first time it was held, exact time? I don’t remember when.

Okay, to start, at Semeru St. from Gajayana stadium until in the front of Army Museum in Malang, a night before, the road was closed. Then in the middle of the night, people starts building tents, where tommorow it will be used as a stand for variety of shops. The market is open from 5 o’clock in the morning until 12 o’clock in the afternoon. Okay, here is some of the crowd pictures that I can gathered during my visit:

view from entrance

view from front of football court at Gajayana Stadium

crowd from the intersection

Next, we will talk about kind of shops. If you come to this market, usually on your left side from the entrance you will find many food shops A.K.A warung makan in Indonesian. They sells variety of foods and beverages. Here is some pictures:

traditional food, Lumpia

How to make Martabak

Soto and Sate Ayam stands

the fruit of Salak Pondo

Orange Juice maker

Also, on the right side, the stands sells many kind of clothing, hats, bags, and variety kinds of glasses with fairly cheap price. Here is some of the pictures:

Clothing shop

glasses and sunglasses shops

fairly cheap bags

Not just that, in some side of the market, you can find some shops that displaying and sells something different and unique. Here is some pictures of them:

wood handicraft and small replica of Becak

displays of old Indonesian moneys

traditional toys

handicraft of moneybox

another piece to enlighten your home

traditional lolypops

There, you can find almost anything right? Variety of choice and the price are bargainable. Others than all shops above, there are some persons that looking for money on different way, here’s the example:

profile of some scavengers

Another unique things about Sunday market is you will not find some shops at the same spot in the next time you visit. Out from all the pictures that I share, there are some other things that you might find everytime you visit, here they are:

some formal people give every visitor a brochures

in the end part of market, there is a small flower shop

So, that’s the end of what I want to tell everyone who read this about another side of Malang. Last sunday I visit, it’s very busy, even when I comes there earlier than usual, people so crowded, almost hard to walk around and enjoys the shops one by one. We push people in the front of us so they will move forward, as well as people in the back push us. I say, that’s the fun. You can meet many people who you don’t know, or…. maybe you know some. Good place to walks with your family, your boy/girlfriend, or maybe find some food and unusual things that only appears here. Anything ^_^ Then in the end before I back home, here what I do (sorry for no smile :D )

breakfast of NASI KUNING

See you all again on another post….. Groetjes…

Malang’s Town Square. A lot of activities happens there. On normal days, we can see people comes and out just to take a walk, or sit a while to rest, let go of all sickness in their daily life. On weekend, more people comes. Not just the usual activities before, parents comes and bring their kids to play, buying some toys, or see an attraction of Masked Monkey. Weekend also times for youngsters to get relax, they visit Town Square with their beloved one (read: silly relationship between High Schooler ^^), also place where workers spend their times on crowd to let their mind free.

In the other side, people not only comes for visiting this place. Many of them push their luck as a street peddler. From selling soft drinks, coffee portable, sliced tofu with salt, roasted corn, many things. Not a little also brings their monkey (pets) that they have trained, to be an attraction. That’s what they do to earn money to continue their living.

But what attracted me when I pay on visit to this place is an old lady sitting near entrance with traditional clothing of daily kebaya. She’s sitting in front of a big basket containing food called “Gula Kacang”.

Gula Kacang

It is some kind of food that already rare in Malang. Not so many people familiar with this kind of food anymore. Even youngsters these days, they will find it strange to see this kind of food (well somehow including me). For older people they might remember about this food, the greatness of it’s taste. From the sweet taste of brown sugar, the warm taste of ginger, and crispy nut. The color is lovely as well.

Back with the old lady. When I meet her again several days ago, I was so curious. I embrace myself to talk to her. At first, I ask about the price of that food. Eagerly she answer it “one thousand Rupiah.” I’m surprised, for a woman in her age, her voice still can be heard loudly. Then she give me plastic and tell me to pick the Gula Kacang that I like. I choose whichever caught in my eyes. Then after I paid, I tried to talk to her.

I asked who is her name, and she said that her name is Mbah Temi. Then the conversation keeps going on and on. From there, so much information I got about her. She lived alone at Bandulan area, and believe me, that’s very far from Town Square. She made all the Gula Kacang by herself, and bring it to Town Square also by herself. She have six childrens, three boys and three girls. She said to me with sadness in  her face if three of her girls have passed away long time ago. And all of the boys already lived alone with their families (read: wife and kids). I asked again, does they ever pay a visit? She answer sometimes, and then none of them ever tried to stops her from this activities. I wonder, is their effort not that hard, or they doesn’t care about her? I don’t know.

Moving on, I asked Mbah Temi when is the first time she selling Gula Kacang here. With laugh she said she doesn’t remember it, faintly in her memories, she said to me that she have sell that food since she still very young. What an admiration that she keeps selling Gula Kacang until today, not even once she thinking to stop. She said that it’s the only way how she keep survive. She continued, Mbah Temi said that she only get tired of sitting to wait for someone to drop by. I wonder again, if someone as old as her have that kind of spirit, why youngster like me can easily give up on something. What’s funny, she  said if she selling Gula Kacang in the same spot, even before the Town Square as beautiful as nowdays. Not much of tooth left anyway ^^.

After that, I asked how much income that she gain everytime she working (note: Mbah Temi only here at Friday until Sunday). She answered everytime is not the same. Sometimes can get about twenty thousand Rupiahs, sometimes none of her food sold a day. Then Mbah Temi remember that the first time she sell Gula Kacang, the price is ONE HUNDRED Rupiah. That’s very cheap, despite of how much money she spent for making one Gula Kacang. But now she sell it one thousand Rupiah. Not much of improvements I think. -_-

And it’s the end of our conversation. I left her with many things in my mind. I admire her spirits. She never gives up even knowing that her food not gain many income, she keep coming during Friday to Sunday to sell Gula Kacang. Mostly my thought I have said it before, but I also have some kind of hope. Big hope that she don’t need to do this work again, far from home, bring everything alone, not much of income. Mbah Temi is supposed to get rest in her house, enjoying her life, surrounding by her beloved families. For me, old lady like Mbah Temi is one of  example of someone that we, the youngsters have to taken care. Doesn’t matter which family she came. A better and peaceful life is what she needs, unlike this. I wonder (again), if only I have a chance, I will do something to help her. But, nothing comes from my silly brain. Well, I can only pray for her this time.

As this is the end of my writing this time, I hope I can find some other topics to be written here. Will be back again soon ^^
